Product details for QNAP TS-1277-1700-16G 12-bay NAS

The TS-1277-1700-16G desktop NAS from QNAP safely stores your data and files. This TS-1277-1700-16G NAS (network-attached storage) device, unlike normal external hard drives, can be integrated directly to your network. It also needs far less power than regular PCs and offers you ample space for all your data. It is equipped with It has an AMD PRO Ryzen 7 1700 3.0 GHz processor. The high 16 GB RAM allows several users to simultaneously access its stored data. This model ensures that you won't need to worry about long loading times again. The following data storage forms are available for this desktop NAS system: 0, 5 + hot spare, JBOD, 10, 6, 5, 1, 10 + hot spare, 6 + hot spare, 60 and 50. Using a JBOD architecture to create a multi-disk storage space means you can combine hard drives of random sizes and will not lose the storage capacity of any of them. This is not the case with RAID levels.

When using RAID 0, hard drives (ideally of equal storage capacities) are interconnected and work in parallel — this means a higher, faster performance as computer tasks are not handled by just one drive. However, there is no fault tolerance because data is not mirrored, which means this RAID level is better suited for high speed storage of large volumes of data. Using RAID 1 means you get high data security. This is achieved by mirroring, which simply means that your data is duplicated from one drive to another, so that if one fails, nothing is lost. This also means that the total storage capacity of your drives will be halved. RAID 1 is best suited for smaller NAS systems. When using RAID 5 your data is split among multiple drives and when one drive has an error the data is then copied and distributed to the other drives. This method offers you high data security and you can retain the total storage capacity of all your drives. It's the optimal choice for larger NAS systems with more than three hard drives. RAID 6 offers you high data security and is still operational even if two hard drives in the system fail.

Experience great quality and all-round excellent service, from the moment you order to the delivery of your purchase.
